  • Las Vegas Team Tournament: September 25-26th, 2021,Las Vegas, NV, Registration Opens May 7th, 2021.

Event format:

Overview: For those new to (the very fun) team format events here is a broad strokes overview of how they work. Each team consists of 5 players and up to 1 non-playing coach. Each team member’s army is unique from their teammates. One of the 5 players is a team captain. They are an otherwise normal member of the team, playing an army during the event, but have several additional responsibilities such as submitting event scores and managing pairings.

Pairings: When you face off with another team, both Team Captains secretly choose a “defender” list from their team. Both teams also secretly pick two “attacker” lists. Both teams reveal their defenders and Team Captains pick one of the attacking lists to face off against their defender. Repeat this process until both teams are left with 2 unselected attacker lists whom will then play one another. Detailed guidelines will be provided for the event!

  • 5 person teams.
    • 1 team member designated as Team Captain whom is responsible for managing their team’s pairing choices and submitting game results.
    • Each team may have 1 team coach to assist with pairings and advise team members during the round. The team coach does not actually play during the event.
  • 2,000pt Strike Force armies.
    • All armies must be painted to at least a Battle Ready standard.
  • 9th ed, 2020 Grand Tournament format
  • 1 iteration of each faction per team.
    • This will typically be defined by Codex. Example: 1 iteration of the Space Marine Codex (which encompasses all of the Codex Supplements attached to it).
    • In the instance a faction does not have a Codex, such as Sisters of Silence, they may only appear in 1 team member’s army.
    • More specific details to come!
  • First team to 3 wins in a round wins the round. Victory points determine overall ranking within each W/L/D bracket.
    • Example: all of the teams finishing with a 5/1 record will be ranked within that bracket according to who has the most accumulated victory points.
    • Therefore, fighting for every point counts!
  • ITC formatted event.

5 player teams with all 5 teammates able to play? Or is the team captain just a captain and not able to play?

All 5 players play and the team captain is one of those players.

I updated the event description for those unfamiliar with team events!

Venue and ticket prices announced at registration launch?

The venue is linked in the article above, you can book rooms now.

And yeah, we typically don’t put up prices for any event until registration opens, it often just gets confusing for attendees as then they think they can buy the ticket, start asking how to pay, sometimes just send money via PayPal or try and call in and pay, etc. It’s a lot easier to just do it all at once.

Ah, I was confused I found what was wrong. The mobile site does not list the venue. I had to switch to full site mode.

Yeah, it’s just showing the name of the event on the mobile page, no venue name or address.

Interesting, that is odd. I will see if there’s anything we can do about that. Thanks for letting me know.

When registering, does our team captain register the whole team? Or does each team member need to do it individually?

    • Reecius

One person buys a ticket for the whole team. After purchase you will get an email and can manage your team there. For now though, the only thing you really need to do is buy the ticket.
