Warhammer 40k Battle Report: NEW Tyranids vs. Ultramarines!

The Rhino calls out the new Nids in revenge for Macragge, backed by none other than Bobby G! Can Reecius give him what for with the new Tyranids?

This list features the Jormungandr hive fleet adaptations and Warlord Trait on what many would consider to be an unconventional Nid list. It features units built for melee and shooting who walk up the field with both a -1 to be hit thanks to the Malanthropes and +1 to their saves due to the Hive Fleet adaptations. It also utilizes the Jormungandr tunnel networks to potentially bring a large number of units in from reserves.

Pablo’s Ultramarines list features a lot of no LoS required firepower, Bobby G and a Land Raider Achiles. Kind of an off-the-wall list, but interesting and it certainly packs a punch!

    great game, your short form video bat reps are some the best around.
    Got to say I wish there were more then one a week but I understand its not feasible but boy I just eat them up so fast.

      Agreed, we’d love to do more but it takes the entire week to get one done, the editing is pretty intensive. But, thanks! Glad you are enjoying them.

    Awesome Batrep!

    One question about Nids – since there’s a lot of discussion about Forgeworld inclusion at the moment, how do you think the army would do if Malanthropes were banned? They seem to be a big portion of the strength.

      Yeah, that would be a big change. Venomthropes do the same thing but are infinitely more vulnerable. It would be quite a blow to Nids to lose that one model, but FW is often that way.

        Are you guys considering banning all forgeworld for the ITC format?

          No.

            Is there really a discussion about banning FW? What is this 2010?

            @bogalubov

            There are plenty of events that are limiting or banning FW. No Majors or GTs yet, but much of the community is pretty unhappy with the balance that FW has put forward (Malefic Lords, IG artillery batteries and Elysians, and then on the flip side how bad a lot of their Xenos stuff is), and are considering just going strict GW.

            Chapter Approved is supposed to include changes to FW, so hopefully in a month we’ll have a different situation.

            Well, I’d wait for Chapter Approved before jumping to any big choices. GW said CA will adjust points on a lot of units, including FW.

    Here’s a question: in the score after turn 1, one of Pablos missions is “the old school” which he has scored 0 points for so far. What is that? Its not one of the secondaries in the Champions packet. Is it a mission you are trying out or considering?

      It was a mission we were trying out, yes. It is the “old school” missions, First Strike (instead of first blood which just doesn’t work in 8th), Slay the Warlord and Linebreaker, which a bonus point if you get all 3!
