Update 3:00

Round 5 Top 30 Update

We currently have 30 players who are at least 3-0-1 or better which means if there are not a lot of ties between undefeated 4-0s one person MAY get into the top 8 with a single loss. As a matter of fact it is still anyone’s game and a lot of players need to keep playing their hearts out, including Michael Snider, Matt Schuchman, James Carmona, Geoff Robinson, John McCool, and anyone else I can’t remember to mention. The fact that these top players lost a game and have a slim chance at the top 8 but continue to play well shows that they are all amazing competitors. Oh, and that best in faction bragging rights is cool too. Here are pictures of all of the players who are currently 4-0 with some color commentary form myself. Of course, head on over to the BCP player app for each player’s list.

Gareth Hunt : (Dark Angels Barkstar) v Tony Grippando (Taudar)

This is the top table, both of these guys are amazing competitors with hard-hitting cheesy lists. It should be a nail biter.

Brandon Grant (Lionsblade w/ Barkstar) v Jon Camacho (Genestealer Cult)

Jon Camacho is looking to repeat with a rare army like he did last year. If he can get past Grant he deserves a stop in the top 8.

Dan Platt (Demons) v Aaron Towler (War Convocation)

Dan Platt just won this match 11-0, Canada looks like it may have a champion in Dan Platt who beat a great opponent in Towler.

Josh Death (Demons) v Matt Root (War Convocation)

These are both great guys with a lot of charisma and a lot of competitive games under their belts. It should be a clinic on what to expect out of a top 8 game.

Charles Craig (Lionsblade w/ Barkstar)  v William Abilez (Gundam Tau)

No, seriously Will’s Riptides look like gundamns. Will is coming off a win over Matt Schuchman and should be looking for some momentum, but can he beat the hottest list in the tournament right now?

Kurt Clauss v Sean Nayden

I love you too guys, I hope you both develop hand sprains from rolling too many 6s.

Justin Curtis (Magnus + Demons) v Chris Hanes (Rehati-War Sect)

The first hot Magnus on Magnus action that I have seen today. Tzeentch is one tricky son of a warp blast.

Dan May (Pods for Days Company) v Hayden Walduck (Demons)

Dan May looks smug, he must think he is in the the bottom tables like usual. Ah, whatever Team0Comp is still in it, go Dan!

Thomas Oakey (White Scars BC) v Mike Kriegler (Thunderstar)

This game ended in 2 minutes. Mike seized, failed a critical charge which would cripple Thomas’ chances to win the game, and both players shook hands and were never heard from again.

Brett Perkins (Renegades and Demons) v Don Hooson (A Mastodon, No really)

I asked Brett to lose because I really wanted such a unique cool Forgeworld model in the top 8. Brett gave me this look in reply. I have no idea how to take it.

Update 9pm

This was a crazy event with a lot of tough match ups we are going to go over your top 8 in a separate blog post, but here are some highlights of the rest of the evening.

Also look for some Age of Sigmar and 30k results tomorrow as well.

Video Credit to Miniwargaming check out some Miniwargaming Dave shenanigans with a hall-wide WAAAGH! at the end of the video.

More pictures to come tonight! First, I must eat.

Which Magnus is better? Both are entered in our painting competition.

Loving scrolling through the lists on BCP and reading your coverage. Gutted I can’t be there but hopefully next year! Anyone spotted any early faves? The cheese in Sean naydens is about as mature as I’ve ever seen! That is a powerful combo.

seen a lot of regenades players with this tiny heavy ordnance artillery. Having a friend who owns the FW ones they are about 1/3 of the size. Its fine being smaller but when you fit them crammed onto a skyshield pad for 4++ its seems a bit iffy.

I’m not a fan of forgeworld rules being used for non forgeworld models

      • Beau February 4, 2017 9:14 pm #

Are the base sizes the same? If not pretty sure that is cheating.

Reminds me of when I converted some bastion walls into a Barricade upgrade for my ADL for my Nurgle Soul Grinder to stand behind and claim a cover save. I was ruled modelling for advantage by the GW shop lol.

Yea kinda cheesy with 9-10 of those heavy ordinances and crewmen and horrors? All packed on there and you wouldn’t likely be able to fit the fw models on there if they were used.

There were supposed to be a breakdown of top 8 players and their lists for each day in the blog. Where are they?

    It’s said here:

    – Top 8 Lists: Will be put into an article on Saturday Night/Sunday Morning along with analysis and a player profile for each competitor.

    • Petey Pab February 4, 2017 8:47 pm #

Patience buddy, the top 8 announcement event ended less then 30 minutes ago.
