Tuesday Night Fight Pre Game Analysis: Eldar vs. Space Marine Battle Company

eldar.01

Hey everyone, Reecius here to talk about the upcoming LIVE 40k game Tuesday, October 6th between my Eldar and Frankie’s White Scars Battle Company!

First off, here’s my list:

Eldar C.A.D. Size Cost
Maugan Ra 1 195
Guardians 10 90
Rangers 5 60
Wraithguard: D-Scythes 5 210
War Walkers 2 120
War Walkers 2 120
War Walkers 2 120
Avatar 1 195
Seer Council Formation
Eldrad (Warlord) 1 195
Farseer: Spirit Stone 1 115
Warlock 5 175
Dark Eldar AD
Succubus: WWP, Armor of Misery, Glaive, Haywire 1 150
Warriors 5 40
Venom: S.Cannon 1 65
Grand Total 42 1850

Not a typical list. There’s a few reasons for that. For one, a lot of my models are off getting painted, so I am limited a bit to what I have on hand. Secondly, I just like playing different style lists. That said, this is a list that packs a punch as it is pretty hard to make a bad Eldar list, and, it has a few tools up its sleeve.

The Seer Council on foot is not normal, but those are the models I have painted. Humorously, they will actually be quite good vs. Grav Weapons as they have no armor. Not so funny, at least not for me, Bolters will do a number on them! Eldrad’s Warlord trait is very handy, too (D3 units gain Scouts). They do give me though, a LOT of psychic dice and powers to throw out there. If I manage to get Fortune, they make one unit go crazy resilient, and Eldritch Storm will be game changing if I can pop Rhinos. Speaking of which, that is what the War Walkers are there to do!

The Troops section will leave a lot of folks scratching their heads, understandably. The Guardians are painted, cheap, and provide a solid little ObSec unit. Maugan Ra can jump in there if needed for some meat shields and run around the table keeping them Fearless. Or, they can Scout/Outflank due to Eldrad. The Rangers give Shrouded, which is awesome as it provides another great place for Maugan Ra to hang out if needs be and are again, ObSec. Magan Ra himself is a chief. He puts a LOT of strength 6 downfield and kicks ass in melee, too. With the Avatar’s buffs, he can really wreck face if he needs to.

The Avatar is there for no better reason than I love the model! The Wraithknight is 100,000 x better of course, but the Wk is stupidly under-priced as we all know. If they had made the Avatar a GC…I just got a cold shiver! But, my boy is a lowly 5++ MC, so hey, he probably won’t last long but a man can dream! His Aura Ability is solid but he tends to die to quickly for it too matter.

The DE provide the WWP through the Succubus and a mobile ObSec unit that is good at killing MEQs: Warriors in a Venom. I love my Succubus, she is their largely for psychological warfare vs. Frankie, who thinks she sucks. I will use her to deliver the deathblow to his Warlord, mark my words! Her -2ld bubble can also come in very handy with some of the psychic powers I may be throwing around the table, too.

A lot of this game will come down to first turn. If Frankie goes first, his army Scouts forward and unleashes a devastating Alpha Strike. If I go first and get some of the powers I want off, I will be able to really take a bite out of him. I’m not even going to try to win the objective game against Battle Company, I’m going for kill power here, and the ability to take down the high unit count of Frankie’s MUS list.

Hello everyone Frankie here to tell you how I’m going to beat the old grey bush.

I believe my army will be fine playing any mission. If we draw kill points it will be a little tougher, but since I’m so mobile I shouldnt have any problem winning the maelstrom.

I will be banking on going first so that I can take out the high priority targets which will be: war walkers, and the avatar. If Reece decides to outflank I will place my grav cannons evenly along both board edges, to shoot the warwalkers when they come on.  I will try to keep my army together so that I can kill anything that comes after me if he decides not to outflank.

This will be a tough game due to the fact the old grey bush still has a few tricks up his sleeve. Eldrad and the seer council will be a thorn and my side but I should be able to take them on. I will need khan and the chaplain to carry some weight this game.

Should be a great game and hope you all enjoy it!

I can’t see this being a game but I am thoroughly excited for either reece shenanigans OR reece shenanigans followed by copious amounts of salt.

You might be able to kill someone with all the salt.

Salt often refers to the tears of the enemy, especially when used by trolls (which lets face it, all Starcraft players are :P). So salt probably refers to Frankies tears after you break the game.

Great with the pre game analysis – this really adds some extra interest and depth to the games. I usually don’t have time to watch all your streams (they’re really long), so it’s great to get extra investment in a single game.

Best regards from Denmark

Ah hell, now I feel bad for asking this to be a trash bag match! Reece has a “softer” list and while I always root vs Eldar I hope he can make this work. Should make the victory all the sweeter.

I’m sure Reece will have some tricks up his sleeves.

The only analysis I can glean from this is that Reece’s weak Eldar are going to get stomped haha. Sincerely, best of luck buddy!

If anyone can do it, you can! I’m excited to see how much Muagan Ra the Harvester of Souls can kick White Scar ass.

Don’t underestimate the footdar it has more punch than ppl think. Frankie def has an advantage with all the mech, I think it will be closer than ppl think.

Good luck and have fun, that battle company is downright nasty! My wallet would grow arms and slap me in the face if I ever tried to build one though!

An animated wallet with hands? You could sell it and buy a second battle company!

Wish I could watch these batreps, but Alas! I will look forward to the VoD. I will give Reece the benefit of the doubt and if things go south he can still dehydrate Frankie from all the salt he will be spewing forth, so that must forfeit!

Jokes aside, I think this will be a great game and i’m looking forward to seeing a different take on the eldar on the table.

Love the pregame analysis. Really glad to see playing stuff that is not everything the internet says is the best. Not every game needs to be a tier 1 tournament game and a lot of lists that don’t look good at first glance can be a lot of fun to play and do well against the right opponent or list (they often just have a blind spot that hampers them in a more rounded field).

Looking forward to it.

It’s going to come down to popping transports so Footdar rending and psychic powers can mulch Marines.

Wait…what? Where’s the Culexus?

Reece, I think your Foot Council needs a Culexus bodyguard to protect against Frankie’s psykers.
