Notice of ITC Administrative Action Taken Against Player Misconduct

An attendee at the Fabricator Forge April GT was filmed conducting themselves in a manner violating the rules of Warhammer 40,000, and the ITC Code of Conduct.

In addition to the video evidence of this misconduct, these actions were confirmed by the event’s Tournament Organizers. Upon discussing with the Tournament Organizers, review of the video, and discussion amongst the community of ITC Tournament Organizers, administrative action was taken.

In addition to the actions taken by the event organizer and their regional coalition of event organizers, the player in question’s ITC points for the season to date have been removed and they will receive no score for any events they play in for the rest of the 2021 season. Any ITC participating event organizers are free to admit this player to their events or not at their discretion, but the player in question will gain no ITC points from said events.

Incidents of misconduct damage the reputation of the individual, the event they attend and the community of organized play enthusiasts as a whole. This behavior will not be tolerated and similar incidents will meet similar consequences.

ITC Administration

On a personal note, please remember that while we love these games, they are just games. They’re not worth damaging your reputation or compromising your ethics over, nor of harming the reputation of the hard working event organizer whose event you are attending. Likewise, no one has the right to diminish the experience of the other attendees coming to an event that paid money and often took time off of work to attend. Be mindful of the other individuals involved in making this awesome and vibrant community of gamers what it is. Winning games is fun, but being an upstanding human is better.

The flip side of that coin is that again, these are just games we play, regardless of how much we are passionately enthused about them. We are all human and we all make mistakes. Do not let the group mentality drive you to say or do things to someone that could do real harm to their real life. That is neither a fair nor appropriate response to what occurs in a game like 40k. Further, we all deserve a chance to redeem ourselves and be forgiven, so please bear that in mind when choosing how you conduct yourself regarding these types of incidents in online communities or at events.

This is an incredibly encouraging and appropriate response to the situation that has come about. There has been chatter and talk in the community for a while now about the difficulties of dealing with cheating, and the inconsistency of response to such behaviour. As someone who has been vocal and active in that conversation, I am grateful and supportive of FLG and the ITC in this response, and look forward to this helping keep tournaments free of this sort of behaviour.

This response shows that nobody is above consequences and that said consequences will be appropriately severe.

Well done, Reece and the rest of the team, this was a good move!

An appropriate response with a meaningful penalty, but this was the fourth report on this matter that I’ve read. It really needed to the first – especially when this page had already published an article about it yesterday.

Reading FFs own report; they found the need for the Head TO/Referee to be present at all future streaming – that’s got to become mantatory for any streaming of this hobby. AND DICE TRAYS!

But what is the OFFICIAL advice from GW ??

And from the coaching clinic he was employed by ?

He was self employed by his own coaching service, he isn’t on Art of War anymore.

And I wish that GW would be more involved, but right now this just isn’t what they’re doing so don’t expect anything on that front.

I still expect Art of War to make a comment — they are not blameless in the “sportsmanship” / cheating debate.

And remember that this GW’s game that we play as a hobby — it’s not a sport and governed in the same manner.

If this is GW’s game that we play as a hobby, and not a sport to be governed in the same manner, then why do you care so much? None of this affects your beerhammer night with your pals.
