Games Workshop Previews the New Statlines!

WOW!! Some really incredible news about the new unit and weapon statlines coming out that you have to see! Click to read on, or check out the Tactics Corner for more reviews and strategies.

Some absolutely incredible stuff here. I honestly don’t have a lot to add to things this time, so I’m just going to quote the original article and let Games Workshop speak for themselves on the subject.

A Whole New Era

We know all of you gamers out there have been salivating for previews of the new Space Marines codex, eager to bring these might warriors of faith to protect your tabletop from the scourge of players who don’t play the best faction in the game. Let’s take a look at some of these new statlines!

Tacticool Space Marine M6″ WS3+ BS3+ S4 T4 W2 A2 Ld9 Sv3+

Wow! With an extra wound and an extra attack on their profile, every space Marine in the army is now a force to be reckoned with, able to single-handedly take on the evil hordes of xenos and chaos infiltrators that are trying to ruin the game for Space Marine players. Every Firstborn Marine is a truly terrifying foe! But, of course, a warfighter also needs wargear to fight with, and you won’t be disappointed there, either.

Heavy Bolter Rng36″ Str5 AP-2 Dmg2 Heavy 1

The heavy bolter got a serious upgrade, doubling its AP and damage values and making it a very real threat to troops of all kinds! Including Space Marines! But don’t worry, because all Space Marines are going up to three wounds now, so you won’t need to worry about dying to heavy bolters, just those filthy, disgusting, xenos scum players that everyone hates for ruining the game.

Lascannon Rng48″ Str10 AP-3 Dmg6 Heavy 1

Flamer Rng12″ Str4 AP-1 Dmg1 Assault d6 Do not roll to hit with this weapon; it hits its target automatically.

Of course, it’s more than just the heavy bolter that is being improved; the venerable lascannon is also going up in damage, hitting for a full six damage with every shot. That’s enough to take out a Venom in a single shot, and those dastardly Drukhari players won’t know what hit them, especially Kyle! And once their vehicles are destroyed you can go to work with the cleaning flame of the Emperor’s justice, now with an improved range and AP. We saw how popular the Long-Range Marksmen and Tactical Doctrine combo was, so we built it right into the statline of the weapon for extra fun!

Space Marine Captain Mv6″ WS2+ BS2+ S4 T4 W10 A8 Sv3+

The rank-and-file models of a Space Marine army aren’t the only ones getting improvements, however- with all Firstborn models doubling their number of wounds and attacks, your HQs can get in on the action as well! Your opponents will lean to fear your leaders as a Captain with a thunder hammer is a terrifying foe to be reckoned with. And if that’s not enough attacks to finish the job, you can use the Honor the Chapter stratagem to fight a second time with him! Powie, take that Riptide!

Guardians of the Imperium

However, these updates won’t be limited to just the Glorious Defenders of Humanity, who are the greatest saviors of the realm of man and the sole obstacle standing between the perfect and unblemished institution of the Imperium and utter destruction. The Astra Militastrum Miristratum Mastertrasterum Guard will be getting updates to their units and weapons.

Lascannon Rng48″ Str10 AP-3 Dmg6 Heavy 1

Flamer Rng12″ Str4 AP-1 Dmg1 Assault d6 Do not roll to hit with this weapon; it hits its target automatically.

This includes the Las- oh, right, we covered that while talking about Space Marines, didn’t we? Well, the Imperial Guard gets to use those weapons as well, so they can have some of the same benefits as Space Marines get. Man, those Space Marines are really cool, huh? Did you see how many attacks the Captain gets now?? That’s wild!!

Leman Russ Battle Tank M* WS6+ BS* S7 T8 W12 A* Ld7 Sv3+

The mighty Leman Russ Battle Tank, named after one of the most famous Space Marine heroes, can be equipped with several of these weapons. With its powerful main gun- nearly as strong as a Space Marine with a thunder hammer- and its variety of powerful secondary armaments, it can lay waste to any foes of the Imperium that somehow manage to survive the assault of the Space Marines. Although that seems pretty unlikely, doesn’t it? Ha ha, yeah, not gonna happen I bet.

(A lot of players have asked us, “Will Leman Russ be getting a model in the near future?” Well, we can’t answer that question quite yet, but we can say that he won’t not be getting a model, and we’ve got all of these plastic molds that certainly aren’t going to be producing any new Tyranid kits! So stay tuned, loyal fans!)

The Filthy and Despicable Xenos

Ugh, fine. Yes, some xenos factions will also be getting updates to some of their units, since according to the marketing department people do sometimes buy those models. I hope you’re happy, because we could’ve used this time to talk more about the coolest faction in the game (Space Marines) but instead we’re wasting it on some dumb elves and bugs and whatever.

Tyranid Warrior M6″ WS3+ BS4+ W3 A4 Ld8 Sv4+

That’s probably right I guess? As you can see, a Tyranid Warrior is a powerful combatant but not as good as a Space Marine, with three wounds wait THREE that seems way too high most Space Marines only have two wounds??? So anyways they’re very scary and blah blah blah whatever. Now an elf.

Swooping Hawk Exarch M14″ WS3+ BS3+ S̶̼̽3̵͓͚̉̒ ̸̼͌͐T̴̝̍3̴͙̲̊ W̶̹͉̲͐̾̇̀ͅ2̷̢̧̤̖͂͛̇ ̶̦̝̀́̈́̈͘A̷̜͓̓͐̎͌͝2̷̜̬̃ ̶̘̯̍̆L̵̫͚̬̉͌̋̂ḍ̵͕̜̒̐̒̒̒8̶̢̧̥͛̅͋ S̷̢̡͙͉̖̠̜͕̟̘̬̬̯̳͖̝͚̲̏̐v̷̛̬͇̳̙̺͍͕̦̥̲̬͚̠͈͔̎̈́͒̈̎͌̊͊͛͒̏̑̃͗̃̇̂͌͊͗͘͝͝͝4̴̨̧̧̥̼̣̼̖̪͉̼̻̣̭̠̖̹̩͈̫̲̲͈̻̜̈͂̅+̴̡̨̧̡̡̧̢̼̼͔̫̳̭̦̭̜͖̹̦̣̥̪̞̬̰͔̝̝̪̉́̇̇̒̍̉̇̓̀̈̋͗̈́̓͌̒̀̈́͆

Oh noes it looks like the computer machine that talks about elves broke and now we have no choice but to move on and talk about a better faction how teeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerible!

Rhino M* WS6+ BS* S6 T7 W20 A* Ld8 Sv2+

We know that transports are all the rage this edition, so cart your Space Marines around in the most futuristic and powerful transport possible (except for the other Space Marine transports, of course) with the venerable Rhino! Like all other Space Marines it doubled in number of wounds and attacks and also we gave it an extra point on its Saving Throw so because you know, why not? How’s your fucking Venoms now, Kyle? Huh? Huh??

We hope that all of the true fans of the game will look forward to this great new update, whether they play Space Marines, Blood Angels, Grey Knights, or one of the other factions that presumably exist in the game we didn’t check! And be sure to pick up the Space Marine codex when it is announced for prerelease as well as all of the great new Space Marine model kits for your Space Marine army to play Space Marine 40,000, now with more Space Marines!

I was low-key mourning that COVID has obliterated the ability to play locally where I am. Maybe less so now.

I wish this was hyperbole and not factual assessment.

How on Terra do you expect a Lascannon to kill a Venom in a single shot if it does not get some bonus to hit and ignore the invulnerable save? This is just a token gesture and is not going to fix the Space Marines inability to kill lightly armoured xenos.

Don’t worry, I have confidence that there will still be half a dozen ways for Space Marines to get hit bonuses for all their units in addition to free rerolls and probably a psychic power that takes away all invulns on non-Imperial models.

Clever to start it with first born getting an extra attack, you almost had me there!

Been mining salt from the FGO community, there’s plenty more where that came from!

I hope for a crossover between both. Swimsuit aggressor and craft essence of Xenos FTW !

Look I’m not saying I have more than one image of Mash as a Space Marine, but I have more than one image of Mash as a Space Marine.

So well written, says a lot about the game that I almost believed parts of it were a legitimate joke article from them 😀

Get out from underneath the bridge. Go for a walk, get some fresh air. There’s more to life than polluting this hobby with your negativity.

I agree. No one should ever be allowed to say anything negative about someone else’s work.

So, you’ll be deleting your own comment soon, right?

SpaceMarineHammer 40K, welcome. I’ve held onto the hobby for a few years now hoping that I’d get to play my Xenos army someday. However, it’s pretty clear that this game is ONLY for Space Marine factions and I will not be getting anything new for years to come so I might as well throw in the towel. RIP. On the bright side, the game did get me into AoS!

I know you are being sarcastic, but I sure hope you made a typo on the heavy bolter. Heavy 1 would make it unsuited for it’s job.
