Wicker Man remake level of B movie or an actual successful port of Lovecraft to the big screen. Either way the meme fodder will be grand.

There is always the possibility for it to get horribly screwed up, as seems to happen all too often with Lovecraft. But Cage has always been fantastic at the kind of “gradually completely losing your shit” that’s fundamental to a Lovecraft protagonist, so I find it hard to believe this will land below “fun B-movie”, and it might well end up as the first truly good Lovecraft adaptation.

Also, I’m kind of curious as to how they’re going to indicate a colour that shouldn’t be able to exist in a visual medium 😉

Yeah, it’s a curious choice for a Lovecraft story.

I saw this as it was making some screenings, and it was a gem. It takes liberties with the source material, but to be fair, so did all the Stewart Gorden Lovecraft movies, and those are freaking treasures. Cage was perfectly cast, and Act 2/Act 3 are bats*** crazy in the best possible ways!

Good to hear. Cage really does seem perfect for a Lovecraft protagonist.

I mean.. ever since Wickerman, he has clearly stared too long into the abyss. Ironically, his weakest acting in The Color Out of Space is when he is supposed to seem normal. :-p

Even going way back. You can see it in stuff like Vampire’s Kiss. He’s always been able to tap into that.
