Mike’s Primaris Project Part 3- Vehicular Fury

Hi everyone, Mike here with an update on my Dark Angels Primaris project, bringing you some vehicles for my army. For more reviews and analyses, check out the Tactics Corner.

It’s been a while since I’ve done anything with my Dark Angels Primaris army (you can find part 1 and part 2 using the links). In the past few months, I’ve been hunting the Xeonos scum with the Deathwatch and been tempted with the shiny new Genestealer Cults codex.

However, with most of my Genestealer Cults units painted up now, I decided to go back to my Dark Angels Primaris Marines to get the army finished off and to start getting some games.

There have been a number of changes to the army since I last had a look at them. First off, Chapter Approved has seen some points drops for many of the units in the army. Shadowspear has also seen some great new Primaris units added to the range, which I will soon be picking up.

In addition, the Bolter Discipline rule has been introduced, giving the Space Marine units a boost in firepower when they don’t move. This pairs very well with the Dark Angels Chapter Tactics, where you get to re-roll 1’s to hit if you don’t move, meaning the stationary units will put out a fair bit of firepower.

This past week, I have been working on getting my two vehicle units painted up; the Redemptor Dreadnought and Repulsor.

The Redemptor is one of the “easy to build” versions. These work out a bit cheaper than the standard kit, giving you a nice way to build up your army (even cheaper when you order them from Frontline Gaming). He doesn’t have the optimal weapon load out for the Dark Angels, but will provide some strong firepower for the army, as well as the option to use Wisdom of the Ancients stratagem to help units on the move fire more accurately.

Next up, we have the big beast of the Primaris army, the Repulsor tank. This monstrosity comes loaded with weapons and some great special rules to make it better. First up, it has Fly, making it highly mobile around the tabletop and making it harder for your opponent to tie it up in combat. In addition, enemy units trying to charge it suffer -2 to their charge range, making it more difficult for them to make it into combat with the tank.

It also provides some great transport capacity for the Primaris Marines, somewhere the army can be lacking.

I’ve been on a painting fury this week to try and get the rest of the army tabletop ready for a game this coming weekend, so expect more updates soon.
