wow, the Aeldari-list (2nd place) is awesome, love the council 😀

can someone tell me which psi-powers / runes he used? and which artifact on his warlord?

i´m new to the game and interested in playing a similiar list 😀

    • Philip May 26, 2019 11:22 am #

I don’t know for sure but my best guess is that the reason the second battalion is mixed is so the Farseer Warlord (who is biel tan) can take their warlord trait to give off a automatic “guide” to the windriders, and then the warlock takes the spirit stone to hopefully guarantee that protect goes off on the seer council. For powers on the seer council I have no idea.

  2. Zweischneid May 26, 2019 11:53 am #

    Lol. Sooo much Forge World.

Can 40kstats pull win rates (TWIP or whatever) of lists with FW vs. lists without FW?

  3. KingCro May 26, 2019 1:39 pm #

Great to see such diversity in the top 8! Excited to see the final results.

  4. Gutpile May 26, 2019 2:16 pm #

people actually enjoy playing with pathetic garbage cheese lists like these? (Tau and GSC excepted) GW really needs to eliminate this soup garbage and put more focus on troops. You know troops, right? THE ACTUAL VAST MAJORITY OF EVERY ARMY IN HISTORY?

    • Petey Pab
      Petey Pab May 26, 2019 3:32 pm #

Way to live up to your name.

^ best comments always from from Pablo!

    • Jace May 26, 2019 4:11 pm #

Cinematically, what do you mean by focus on troops?

Every army in history is roughly equivalent to the imperial guard in equipment and practice.
How would the same historic approach apply to every other faction and why?

      • Gutpile May 26, 2019 5:52 pm #

Every army in history didn’t consist of 3 units of bare minimum troop choices and those minumum troop choices only taken because it was mandatory.

Alexander the Great, 40k tournament cheese style; 3 five man squads of foot companions, everything else max squads of Companion Cavalry and war elephants.

D-Day, 40k tournament cheese style: 3 five man squads of army privates, everything else Airborne, Rangers, P-51 Mustangs, Tanks, B-17s. Hey, I know the USMC wasn’t at D-Day but let’s soup in some Marine Raiders and an Airwing Detachment of Pappy Boyington’s Black Sheep Squadron!

        • Jace May 26, 2019 6:40 pm #

That’s fair enough, how does that approach to a strikeforce, or military or whatever you want to say apply to an Eldar army, a Custodes army, a combined imperium force, a Necron army etc. ?

Again I agree that ‘filling out a detachment’ isn’t the most thematic/cinematic approach, but the detachments just aren’t really that thematic sometimes.

Basically I don’t see why the standard military practice for forces that are ridiculously over the top (15 guys who are nine feet tall, superhuman in every sense and have the most ludicrously expensive equipment available) wouldn’t have standard tactics that are equally over the top. i.e. “Everyone jump on a 20 foot long golden flying bike that has guns on it. Don’t forget your spear!”

I could understand being critical of how CP is generated, but I don’t understand why focusing on troops is how it should be.

        • KingCro May 26, 2019 6:43 pm #

Yea!!! My sci-fi toy soldiers that use chain swords, shoot lighting out of their minds, and fight killer ninja clown space elves are not realistic!!!

And what is this ally soup garbage that GW keeps pushing on us!? Name me one story where the imperial guard fight next to space marines! In the real world no armies ever ally with each other. Its not like the ALLIED forces in WWII stormed the beaches of Normandy together or anything!!

          • Gutpile May 26, 2019 6:45 pm
            #

Cool, when can Necrons, Orks and Tau ally in some cool options?

        • Anon May 27, 2019 12:16 am #

Dunno if you know this, but 40k isn’t World War 2. How we fight wars is totally irrelevant to how they fight wars.

More than that though, it’s a game. For fun. Troops are stupid and boring. Honestly they should remove the majority of the grunt units from the game entirely so we can have more space for cool stuff.

    • Anon May 27, 2019 12:13 am #

If you wanted a game that mirrored history, you should have played a historical. 40k is a heavy metal album cover and the rank and file grunts are only good for blood sacrifices.

And soup is the most narrative way to play an army. What Space Marine company is putting that many units out onto a field where no other imperial presence is?

  5. KingCro May 26, 2019 6:51 pm #

The orks should loot some allies and give them more dakka!!

  6. JimV May 26, 2019 8:07 pm #

The Horrors were getting Flickering Flames and shooting. Also, Geoff was the winner in a very, very close final.

  7. sultansean May 26, 2019 8:57 pm #

Interesting seeing two Custodes heavy lists and happy to see a seer council list showing something for eldar other than 7 flyers.

I would have expected to see more chaos, since they are “so hot right now”, but I guess they still can’t overcome the efficiency of IG.

  8. r3v0lv3r May 26, 2019 10:50 pm #

The aeldar got lucky, managed to dodge all Impirum and chaos good list.

  9. NinetyNineNo May 27, 2019 6:50 am #

Those are some very interesting lists right there. Skyrunner council is something I’d expect in a narrative campaign, not topping tournaments. Even though I’m not too fond of the FW stuff (what do those Custodes dudes even do, again?), the Purge list full of war machines led by Lords Discordant is nicely thematic. And even the bog standard Guard + Knights list has some neat stuff in the less common Knights used, I’ve noticed the Valiant has made a bit of a resurgence post Castellan nerf.

Not to get all pissy, but I do still wish there was some sort of incentive to run mono-faction. The army with 4 different Imperium codices at no cost (other than the Assassin CP) rubs me the wrong way.

Yeah with the GSC codex they took a half step. I would hope in Chapter Approved we see something like “all detachments that do not contain the same as the warlord grant half the CP rounding up.” The thing is there will be some corner cases, like Ynnari, that don’t have a .

Just speculating but GW might like soup lists, since people may end up building 3 whole armies, eventually, with the 3 small forces they used for a soup list.

They do if it’s Imperium, lol.

Better not try to do this with Xenos. You’re either not allowed to do it at all like Tau, Necrons, etc.., get penalized GSC-style or end up with a ridiculously out of proportion revenge-pron hammering like Ynnari, where some fluffy way to combine armies slipped through, lol.

There was a grey knights list that did very well from what I hear does anyone know what they were running or where the list is? I think it went 4 and 2
