Nerdery: Cast of Mandalorian Announced

Wow, this looks like it could be an amazing show!

Pedro Pascal (you saw him in Narcos and Game of Thrones) will be playing the Mandalorian, which is awesome as he’s one of my favorite actors, but the other actors in the lineup are all amazing, too! Gus from Breaking Bad, Carl Weathers from Predator and Werner Herzog, Nick Nolte…wow, that is impressive. It will be shown on Disney Plus which is their new streaming platform similar to Netflix which is slated to launch in late 2019.

Here’s the official press release:

Production on the first Star Wars live-action streaming series has begun! After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Warsuniverse. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. The series will be written and executive produced by Emmy-nominated producer and actor Jon Favreau, as previously announced, with Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone WarsStar Wars Rebels) directing the first episode. Additional episodic directors include Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok). It will be executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist will serve as co-executive producer. Stay tuned to StarWars.com for updates.

While the main Star Wars films have been pretty meh lately (they’re fun but not great movies, IMO) the side stories have been good, particularly Rogue One which I thought was amazing. This looks like it could be awesome if it is done well and hopefully has a mature tone to it.
