      Slaanesh is exactly as expected
      Khorne seems meh as most of the time you want to re-roll the 9” charge from deepstrike by re-rolling the lower dice with CP.
      Nurgle depends on the meta. That +1 damage sure will help against 1 wound hordes /s
      Tzeentch is cool and flavourful but only in fight phase seems meh in a shooting dominated meta.

        Well, with the instrument giving +1 to advance and charge, that re-roll does seem more useful. Rerollable 8″ charge is pretty strong: 66% of making a charge. So if there wil be a way to move and summon, there will be a way to get even the blood letters into combat somewhat reliably.

        Nurgle one could be really strong if the auras buffing won’t be limited to the detachment that the character that gets the loci is from. Nurgle obliterators might do a lot of damage with this buff (especially if you combine it with veterans stratagem…)

          Exactly. It is with the +1″ charge bonus that makes it so appealing.

    I’m not going to say I’m not rocking back and forth murmuring about being able to run screamers again, possibly, but I’m definitely hopeful the melee only loci will be useful enough to justify melee for Tzeentch.

    If I read this ability right, Mortarian is going to be brutal with his Herald sidekick. 18 attacks at 9 str and 2 Dam on 6+ wound rolls. Throw in Epidemius and it will get really interesting.

      Yeah, Morty and Maggie both get quite a lot of cool stuff through their various buddies. All of the Daemons get some cool stuff.

      Don’t forget to first throw on blades and virulent psychics on Morty. Now those 6s do 4 dmg +1 mortal wound each. Or is it 3? What is the order of operations for that? And when do we get rotfly mounts for heralds!

    At first glance the mono god bonuses seem underwhelming especially compared to a lot of chapter tactic style changes, but I guess we will really need to see the full codex to see how impactful these are. Maybe the army will have a lot more kick once you add in the new special characters and stratagems and other overhauls.

    Still #1 issue is morale making most of the core fluffy troops worthless and forcing you into MSU for all the other units.

    Exciting for Bloodthirsters, flesh hounds, and bloodcrushers. Bloodletters are probably still going to be awkward to play, referring to them being a cc-only unit with slow speed. I’m not expecting much for daemons of Khorne, but I’m admittedly cynical and things could end up better than I predict. But probably not. 😛

    Is it just me or does the tzeentch rule seem clunky?

    What happens when doubles are rolled? Technically, they’re both the highest.

    More so, what about exploding 6s? Do they get the extra attack but the initial one fails?

    I’m gonna hold all reservations until I see the Codex though.

      It’s not the best. It’s needlessly complicated for a relatively moot benefit. Expect a FAQ for it after two weeks.

        A needlessly complex rule fits Tzeentch do well though… too bad it has such a small in game effect.

          I’m fine with complicated for Tzeentch, just make it have a pay off to justify it haha.

    I am hoping for some strategems to help out with summoning and deployment. Demonic ritual seems to be a powerful ability for chaos demons but the fact you don’t get detachment buffs is very weak. You trade flexibility in unit choices for a bunch of critical special rules like obsec and now Loci. Doesn’t seem worth it for an ability that requires a stationary character 🙁

    The deployment options is really critical in my opinion. An all foot slogging demon army just seems bad in an edition with shooting being very strong and cover being useless. Demons went from having the entire army capable of deep striking to none of them 🙁 I know its a different edition and deep striking is stronger now, but I still hope the fix that at least with strategems and give demons some of the deployment options they used to have.
