Warhammer 40k Battle Report: Scions vs AdMech

We had a special guest in studio this week, Geoff faced off against Reece, I let a salty word slip through the edit as well, come at me youtube.

    Had a blast! Was really fun doing this. We got a few things wrong like the points on my Onagers neutron + stubber units and using BOTH canticles on the whole army when it should probably just be the first one for both and second one for mars only…that said it was a fun game and the quality on these bat reps is insane! Nicely done Mariana <3

      Was your Tactics article written after this game?
      Do you think the dragoons were a needed addition for some mobility and distraction from your gunline?

      Also wanted to say that I’ve been a fan of you since State of the Game, and I’m happy that I can still enjoy your content even from another game. 🙂

        Thanks man! Yeah article was written after this game.. but I was saying the entire time that this list (in the bat rep) is not optimal and was more a fun showcasing of some ad mech strengths. I think your HQ’s basically MUST be enginseers with maybe a cawl or dominus and I think adding in the Dragoons or dropping a bomb of priests is the way to go.

    Awesome game! Gotta fight that urge to blast down your whole army on turn 1 haha!

    I usually find that with my Scions, if I’m against an army with a big hard to kill unit like that, killing the other stuff on the board is sometimes just the better choice overall.

      Yeah for sure. The nice thing about Ad Mech is they have really hard to kill units so shooting at rangers or something with heavy hitters is not desirable but like you said neither is shooting into kastelans or onagers!

    Can scions be used as a standalone army with tools to handle anything or is it better taken as a part of a bigger army?

      Well I mean it’s certainly better to include other stuff with them, as Scions themselves only have a small handful of units with very limited roles. However, that isn’t to say you _can’t_ run them alone, just that (like almost all Imperial armies) you’re better off bringing some allies.
