Tournament Organising: Give it a try! – by Reecius

Hey there hobbyists, my name is Reece (Reecius on the interwebs), here to discuss the journey from community participant to community organizer. That leap can be intimidating to make but it is immensely rewarding! My hope is that this article not only shows the path that took me to community organization but also shows you that it really isn’t as difficult to do as you might imagine, and it’s well worth the investment of time and energy (and sometimes money!).

As many of you reading this can relate to, I started out as a wide-eyed young gamer enamoured by the amazing miniatures of Warhammer 40,000. There I stood in Games Workshop – Cambridge on a trip to visit family in England. My cousins had brought me to see this game that they were so enthused with first hand, and upon laying my eyes on a Dark Angels Captain, it was love at first sight!

    Great article Reese!
The best part was the editor’s note at the end apologizing for all your “American spellings”… oh the British, the world is so much richer for their love of representative democracy and grammar rules.

Love the post, Reece! I’ve never organised a tournament myself (yet!), but running campaigns at the local gaming club really helps with people’s enthusiasm for the game and the club.
