Friday Night Fight – Duhruckus v Phat J Sleaze

There comes a time in every young man’s life when he feels it’s time to put on the big boy pants. He might raise his voice to his father, or offer to buy a round of drinks for the boys at the bar.  Duhruckus feels his time has come after a string of  small town tournament wins, and Phat J Sleaze is here to show him the old pimp hand still holds strong.  Humility is a bitch and it’s the only reward young Ruckus will be earning on his trip to sunny San Diego.

Hey all, Phat J Sleaze here to do a little pre-fight promotion for the Friday night fight that will be going on tomorrow night between myself and Duhruckus, also known as Shayne, on our Twitch channel.  Shayne will be visiting from Northern California for the weekend, and seeing as how he will not shut the hell up about winning a couple jobber tournaments in his local area I decided it was time to put the young dog down.  It should be said that Shayne was kind of a protege of mine while I was living in Northern California before I moved to San Diego and hearing all of this arrogance coming from him makes me feel as if I have created a monster.  I have given him the talent, but not the grace with which to handle the laurels of victory.  I shall now have to beat that grace into him. With my fists dice.

Another reason we are dusting off the ol’ twitch channel is because we want to test out the new overlay that the talented Mariana has been working on for the Las Vegas Open.  This will be the first of a couple test runs for the overlay so we would love for you guys to give us some feedback after the game so we can tweak it before the the show. Look how awesome it is!  I for one and happy that at least one person here at Frontline Gaming has talent.

Shayne will be bringing his Bark Star list, a fearsome Space Wolf Deathstar list that utilizes elements from a couple different Space Wolves sources and relies on durability and speed.

Wulfen (222pts)

So you can see this is a fast moving hard hitting list that has the ability to reach out and touch your naughty bits with the quad mortar and soak up a ton of damage with the Deathstar made up of the Heralds of the Greatwolf and the characters on Thunderwolves.

To counter this I am calling up the old White Scars Battle Company from retirement for one more fight. These guys have no flash but they get the job done. Tons of grav and a  healthy mix of melta and AP3 weaponry make this list a threat to all comers.   Throw in the Scout and Hit and Run shenanigans from Khan and you have yourself all the tools to win against anything these young jabronies throw at you. Here is what I am bringing.

White Scars Gladius Strike Force

Chaplain (90) Hunters Eye (20) Melta Bombs (5) 115
Command Squad (90) 5x Melta Guns (50) Drop Pod (x) 140

  275
Inquisition
Coteaz 100
Ordo Malleus Inquisitor (25) 3x Servo Skulls (9) Psyker (30) 64
 164
1849

As you can see this is as basic White Scar as you can get.  It gets a pumpkin spice latte at target like any other basic White Scar list out there. But it gets work done, and we’ll see if it has the offensive output to take Shayne’s list apart piece by piece. It has the drop capabilities to take out his artillery early in the game, which is a big threat to the small marine units in the transports. The Deathstar will be a problem, but they can only ignore so many wounds and with so much Grav in the air he’ll be having a rough go at it once they start taking wounds.  What do you guys think? Is it the young pup’s time to shine or will he be shown up by the seasoned veteran of the tables?  Let us know in the comment sections!

Make sure to check out the action on our Twitch Channel tomorrow, Friday October 28th at 5pm pst!

oh man.. cant wait.. was actually going to ask before you announced this if tuesday night fight was coming back 🙂

About the overlay.. really sexy.. only one small critique (without really having seen it in action but first impression), it might be a bit too “fat”.. a bit too big compared to the video feed… I watch a lot of streams and one of the biggest turn offs for me personally is big overlays that takes away from the content.. Now I am not saying remove any of the elements since all of looks super cool.. but maybe trim it down by 10% or so..

But again first impression without seeing it in action.. cant wait to see it all come together 🙂

Just a note, that is a thunderwolf star, not a bark star, form my understanding that one consists of 50+ fenris wolfes.

Yeah, you are correct. Bark Bark star is tons and tons of little wolves plus characters. Insane board control that one.

I have heard of the Barkstar referring to both the Fenrisian Wolves (with attached characters) and Khorne Dogs (with attached Cabal.) It’s kinda confusing terminology.

It’s actually not a deathstar army so much as it is a MTO army with multiple, distributed threats.
