The new knight heads are sick. Did you guys talk about the new FW Tau Barracuda at all by the way? I haven’t had time to listen to the last couple of shows lately so I’ve just been skimming the show notes. It’s interesting because it’s the first FW flier to have rules updated for Death From The Skies (it’s also a different unit entirely from the old Barracuda, and presumably you can still use that one). It could be a signal that FW is going to update some of their other fliers as well… or not. We’ll see.

    • Heldericht July 29, 2016 11:42 am #

FW already updated all their fliers along with the new Barracuda.

      https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/fw_site/fw_pdfs/Warhammer_40000/Death-from-the-Skies.pdf

Also, you can use both Barracudas simultaneously. They have different names to distinguish them (Barracuda and Barracuda AX-5-2). The old one also takes up a fast attack slot, while the new one is a heavy support slot.

Oh, I had no idea. Shows how out of the loop I am. Thanks for the link!

Try taking a pair of helcults to bubble wrap a big block of renegades artillery, as many summoning psychers as possible, and a void shield. It’s a lot of fun and pretty hard to deal with if your opponent can’t drop your shield quickly.

      Reecius July 29, 2016 1:04 pm #

      Not a bad idea!

If you try it I recommend going second, taking plague zombies as troops, and castling up till turn 3 then abandoning the batteries. If the arty did its job being the focus of attention you’ll have close to 100 fearless zombies, 40 fearless cultists, whatever daemons you managed to summon, and possibly a helbrute or 2 swarming the board that your opponent only has 2 turns left to deal with.

One thing I doesn’t seem to be able to find is anything related to onepage 40k on fronlinegaming? Since you guys test basically anything 40k related I would love a small 1000pts battle report with that rulesystem. No chance of that happening? 🙂

  6. Trueknight July 30, 2016 5:58 am #

Ive been on a 40k hiatus the last few months… Crazy summer and all, but I am really excited to get back into the thick of things and get caught up on my favorite podcast 👍🏼

One thing I’ve started doing is using the boon table from the Path to Glory(PtG) supplement. It doesn’t suffer from bloat… there’s only 11 results with 3 of them being god specific.

For example, last game I played Kharn got the Khorne exalted reward… add 2 to the Attacks characteristic, that makes him 6 attacks base.

Most of the results from the PtG boon table are useful as well. Change the champions Attacks to D6, this and Demon Weapon could be sick. The champion gets Zealot. The champion can re-roll failed saves. The champion can gets the Demon USR. Of course there’s still Fear… yawn, but there’s Acidic Blood at S5, AP3 per hit, opposed to Ichor Blood’s S3, AP4.

You still have Spawn and DP results as well.

It works pretty well for the most part and cuts down on the useless crap in the original boon table. Makes Gift of Mutation an actual option.

Yes it’s a house rule, but I’ve found it makes CSM fun.

Sisters of Silence are also null-psykers, so they’re effectively a demi-legion of Culexus. That’s another reason they’re called Silent (and sent along to Prospero)
