It’s Lone Star.
Yes, thanks! Haha
Wow brutal games.
Definitely a lot of fun. First game I rolled poorly for saves, and when Draigo and the Dreadknight died T1 it pretty much was just downhill from there. Had they lived another turn, it probably would have been a very different game. The Dreadknight in particular would have done some damage. But that’s the way it goes sometimes.
The second game I made a few minor mistakes that could have cost me the Scouring if it had ended T5, but with kill points I just had to not get tabled. I should have kept the Acolytes inside the Raven for another turn, the Dreadknight should have just assaulted the first Cultist squad since flaming them cost it the charge, and I should have kited his army for another turn before letting them charge in, but honestly, I felt like smashing face. I’m definitely going to have to drop by and get a game or two in more often.
You’re always welcome to come by, buddy! We love getting in some new blood to play against!
The poor rolls in that first game really had a massive impact right off the bat; seeing that line up I would have weighted the odds in favor of Draigo, but I guess you can’t beat the dice.
The second game wouldn’t have beat the spread in vegas.
You said it. On paper, it should have been a lot closer, I totally agree. But the dice are an unavoidable random element that you just can’t control.
Tough games, Gordy.
As a Draigowing player myself, I am actually concerned about facing eldar. They’ve got the mobility to stay away and the range to out-shoot the knights. I’m glad the old RoW is gone, but eldar is still a tough fight for the knights.
I’ve tried similar lists like Frankie’s and it is tough to consistently win with them. The lists are so unbalanced that you usually either dominate an opponent or get dominated yourself. I’ve also been running Fateweaver recently and it makes a world of different if you can re-roll a failed Grimoire or grounding test.
Yeah, so far the only armies that have given my Eldar trouble have been armies kitted to kill them and Tau.
I think there are a lot of builds that can give your eldar some problems. Grant’s seer council, Doug’s Forgeworld IG, Janthkin’s tyranids, triple-heldrake builds, Fateweaver daemons, tesla-crons, shooty MSU-mech….these are just some of the builds that I think will give your eldar a tough fight besides Tau and venom-spam DE.
It would’ve been interesting to see you bring your footdar to this upcoming tournament to see how they deal with some of the army builds there, but I guess we will see them soon enough in some future tournament.
I was experimenting with some new stuff, too. I’ve had that converted Storm Raven since before there was an actual Storm Raven model, but I’ve only played it a few time since I haven’t gotten around to cleaning it up, sticking guns on it, and painting it. Definitely like it, but I also want to fit a Dreadnought in there for a little long range firepower, so I haven’t quite settled on what to keep and what to drop.
In the 2nd game, I’m not sure the Daemon Lord/Herald could challenge Draigo once Draigo killed the Herlad on a Juggernaut. Only one challange can be issued per combat, and wasn’t that all the same combat?
